Austin Interfaith Inclusion Network

Currently, OneStar Foundation is working with a grant provided by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) and Meadows Foundation. This grant allows OneStar to bring together faith-based communities and disability communities to discuss inclusion in faith-based settings. These meetings began in 2012 and will result in the development of a self-sustaining Austin Interfaith Inclusion Network (AIIN) by the end of 2013. A symposium was held in the first year to bring these two groups together to discuss this important issue, and information about this event will be posted here as details emerge. A Project Advisory Committee (PAC) was developed and approved by TCDD to provide oversight and guidance on all grant activities. This PAC meets quarterly and overlaps with the efforts of the AIIN where appropriate.  A second year symposium was held in October 2013 to provide strategies, resources, and next steps to faith and disability related organizations to work towards greater inclusion.

The goal of this project is to create a sustainable interfaith inclusion network in Central Texas that supports people with disabilities throughout their faith experiences and host an annual symposium targeting the faith community which will yield Action Plans for each community to work towards in the next year.  The third year of the project will evaluate the outcomes of the symposia, resources and outreach of the network.
