Oct 7 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

On Friday, October 7, 2016, supporters of national service will come together for AmeriCorps Opening Day to celebrate a remarkable milestone for the nation, as we surpass 1 million men and women who have joined AmeriCorps to make our country stronger.
Here in Texas, we will gather at the Texas Capitol Auditorium in Austin to welcome and honor more than 2,400 new and returning AmeriCorps Texas members who will give a year of their lives in service this year, concluding with swearing them into service by taking the AmeriCorps Pledge.
This will be part of a nationwide effort to swear in 75,000 AmeriCorps members in collaboration with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) in Washington, D.C. and other state service commissions across the country.
