Texas Nonprofit Council
Background and Purpose
The Texas Nonprofit Council, created by Senate Bill 993 of the 2013 Texas Legislature, helps direct the work of the Interagency Coordinating Group and provides guidance on faith-based and community-based initiatives. The council, in coordination with the Interagency Coordinating Group:
- Makes recommendations for improving contracting relationships between state agencies and faith- and community-based organizations.
- Develops best practices for cooperating and collaborating with faith- and community-based organizations.
- Identifies and addresses duplication of services provided by the state and faith- and community-based organizations.
- Identifies and addresses gaps in state services that faith- and community-based organizations could fill.
