• On September 12, 2014, like-minded individuals from across the State of Texas will come together to witness the largest AmeriCorps swearing-in and recognition ceremony in Texas history. This will be a part of the nationwide event featuring the simultaneous swearing-in of 80,000 AmeriCorps members and alums being live streamed by the Corporation for National and Community Service in Washington, D.C. and other state commissions across the country. We will also be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of OneStar as Texas' state service commission.

  • Join us for the Texas Nonprofit Summit, September 18-19, 2014! More than 700+ nonprofit professionals, board members, funders, government representatives and other community leaders will convene to experience an inspiring, productive two days of learning and networking. This year's theme is Collective Action for Impact, which is all about inspiring collaborative approaches to our work. We'll explore how collective action with fellow nonprofits, as well as business, government, academic and philanthropic partners, leads to extraordinary impact in the communities we serve. We hope to see you there!

  • AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that gives people the chance to serve in locations across the country. OneStar Foundation administers AmeriCorps*Texas, which pairs AmeriCorps members with nonprofits, public agencies and faith-based and community organizations to help them tackle social challenges. AmeriCorps*Texas gives members the opportunity to strengthen Texas communities while being part of a national service movement. Both part- and full-time positions are available.

  • On December 11th, the National Conference on Citizenship (NCoC) announced the winners of the 2013 Civic Data Challenge. OneStar won 2nd place in this national contest for our work with Texas Connector! This challenge, supported by Knight Foundation, brings together tech, design, and data professionals from across the country. Together with community partners, the innovators created websites, apps, and programs to increase civic participation and the strength of our communities.

  • OneStar Foundation, with generous support from The Meadows Foundation, is pleased to announce the debut of the Nonprofit Management Alliance of Texas (NMAT, the Alliance). The purpose of NMAT is to create, strengthen and enhance capacity building work; promote increased access to nonprofit leadership and professional development, management and governance services; and advance the impact of the nonprofit sector. NMAT membership is open to nonprofits (including divisions within academic institutions) whose primary mission or program focus is to strengthen the ability of nonprofits to achieve their mission.

Connect.

OneStar connects faith-based and community organizations, businesses, government and foundations to resources and information about the nonprofit sector. The Texas Connector geo-mapping tool is a great example of our work to strengthen the nonprofit infrastructure through linking community needs with nonprofit solutions.

Promote.

OneStar promotes the nonprofit sector and innovative public-private partnerships to drive community solutions. We believe that a strong nonprofit sector depends upon effective civic engagement. For example, OneStar chairs the Inter-Agency Coordinating Group (ICG), a legislatively mandated group consisting of 25 state agencies charged with making it easier for faith-based and community organizations to work with state agencies to better serve Texans.

Convene.

OneStar convenes statewide nonprofit networks, developing a coordinated approach to building the strongest, most impactful nonprofit sector. For example, we convene the Nonprofit Management Alliance of Texas (NMAT) promoting high quality affordable management and governance strengthening services to Texas Nonprofits.
