Alyson Whitefield serves as an AmeriCorps VISTA Leader, supporting the OneStar AmeriCorps VISTA Project team. Her passion for service was inspired by her experience within public education, which fostered a love of learning and ignited a passion for making a greater impact on individuals and communities. After earning a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, Alyson embarked on a career in social work. Her commitment to the field was exemplified by two terms of AmeriCorps service as an an Impact Tracker and Strategic Issues Manager VISTA with a nonprofit in south Dallas, where she developed and enhanced the capacity of workforce development programs. These programs were instrumental in helping individuals and their families break free from the cycle of poverty, demonstrating a deep commitment to social justice and community betterment. Alyson was born and raised in Texas and enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching the Texas Rangers.
