Tina Smith supports communication functions for OneStar and leads the development and implementation of OneStar’s recruitment support strategies for AmeriCorps across the state of Texas. She is a proud AmeriCorps alumna, having served as a corps member with City Year Philadelphia and as a founding corps member with City Year Little Rock. While serving a third term with City Year Louisiana in the wake of after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, she was honored by Voices for National Service for “extraordinary, dedicated and compassionate service to community and country, and for demonstrating the power of national service to make a difference in times of great need.” She is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Uganda). Tina earned a Master of Arts in Comparative and International Social Policy from the University of York in the United Kingdom preceded by undergraduate studies in Business and Journalism at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She is affectionately known on her social media as the Leader of a Tiny Gang as she owns and operates a small urban duck farm in Houston.
