Make a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing of at-risk students while gaining training and certifications toward a career in behavioral health.
The Youth Mental Health Corps uses the power of national service as a bridge to career pathways to simultaneously address the youth mental health crisis and empower young adults with promising and meaningful careers. Youth Mental Health Corps is designed for young people between the ages of 18 to 24 years old to gain experience and certifications while serving in communities with limited access to mental health resources. These young adults bring a personal connection and motivation that uniquely position them to work with youth.
Texas Youth Mental Health Corps AmeriCorps members serve with a Communities In Schools (CIS) school-based program by offering case management through weekly one-on-one or small group sessions to economically disadvantaged students. These sessions focus on six core components of the CIS program:
