The Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas proposes to have 20 AmeriCorps members who will deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls aged 5-12 and lead family outreach in the following cities and surrounding areas: Laredo, Harlingen, McAllen, Victoria, and Corpus Christi. At the end of the program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for social, emotional, and life leadership skills in girls aged 5-12. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 200 adult volunteers who will be engaged in assisting with the conversion of Community Troops into Traditional Troops within each service area. This program will focus on the AmeriCorps focus area of Education. The AmeriCorps investment of $285,900 will be matched with $98,237 of projected match in private funding.
