The Student Conservation Association (SCA) proposes to have 28 AmeriCorps members who will serve to protect, restore, and enhance public lands and waters as well as natural, cultural, and historical resources. Service will take place in the Gulf Coast region. At the end of the second program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving 4,160 acres of parks and public lands. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 30 volunteers who will be engaged in hands-on conservation activities such as tree care, trail maintenance, and invasive plant removal. This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Environmental Stewardship. The CNCS investment of $374,400 will be matched with $625,798 in additional funding.
