The AmeriCorps Recruitment Institute is a series of four virtual 3-hour workshops that dives into best practices at different stages of recruitment, specifically exploring strategies that lead to a diverse talent pool and increase local partnerships. The goal of each workshop is for participants to walk away with new ideas, a stronger network of AmeriCorps recruiters, and 1-2 action items that can be implemented immediately.
No AmeriCorps program is the same—each program has a unique focus and operates in different regions and at varying sizes. These workshops provide a solid foundation for recruitment planning, but the skills and resources featured can be customized further to meet each program’s needs. Workshops include small group discussion, work time, and space to practice and get feedback on key deliverables.
The AmeriCorps Recruitment Institute is led by a team of consultants with more than 17 years of recruitment experience across Texas.
This training is targeted to staff members that lead member recruitment for their AmeriCorps program. These sessions have been developed to be useful and accessible for recruiters in a wide range of contexts and at varying levels of experience.
This training is open to AmeriCorps Texas programs within OneStar’s portfolio, as well as AmeriCorps National Direct and Tribal Grantees operating in Texas.
Due to public health concerns resulting from COVID-19, the AmeriCorps Recruitment Institute will be held online on the Zoom platform. Login instructions will be provided to participants following the close of registration. You can read more about Zoom’s accessibility features here.
OneStar is committed to making our events inclusive for people of all abilities. OneStar will ensure live transcripts for all presentations and, for many presentations, advanced copies of the material. If you require accommodations to fully participate in our virtual event, please let us know via your registration so we can make necessary arrangements.
The workshops build upon each other and are meant to be sequential, so participants should expect to attend all four workshops. By registering, you commit to attend all days of training in full.
Download the syllabus for more details on the topics and content covered during each workshop. There will be a 30-minute break for lunch each day.
The deadline to register is Friday, March 4, 2022. Registration is now closed.
This training is made possible through funding from the Schultz Family Foundation and their National Service Challenge Grant.
The Schultz Family Foundation, established in 1996 by Sheri and Howard Schultz, former CEO & Chairman Emeritus of Starbucks, creates pathways of opportunity for populations facing barriers to success, focusing on youth transitioning to adulthood and marginalized populations, including Black, Indigenous, People of Color communities. By investing in scalable solutions and partnerships in communities across the country, the Foundation aims to help tackle the barriers and roadblocks that prevent individuals from reaching their full potential and, in doing so, strengthen our communities and our nation.
