Jennifer Alexander (she/her), PhD, is Associate Professor of Public Administration in the College for Health, Community and Policy at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her research focuses on nonprofit advocacy, nonprofit representation of marginalized populations, and the ways in which nonprofit organizations foster civic health, public participation and strengthen democracy.
Jennifer founded and directed a university based center (2000-2012) dedicated to serving nonprofits in the greater Cleveland area, by providing management capacity support and also a service-learning program that matched graduate level courses with nonprofit organizations.
Jennifer has published in Administration & Society, the American Review of Public Administration, Nonprofit Policy Forum, Nonprofit Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Nonprofit Management and Leadership, Public Administration Quarterly, Nonprofit Policy Forum, and Public Administration Review. She earned a Ph.D. and M.S. at Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
