Promoting strong communities before, during, and after disasters
For Texas communities to thrive, they must be able to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. That’s why we leverage our national service, volunteerism, and sector-strengthening expertise and resources to support the resilience of Texas communities.
OneStar coordinates with state and national partners such as the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Texas Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, AmeriCorps, and the Office of the Texas Governor to ensure communities in the Lone Star State have the resources required to build resilience for all.
Rebuild Texas Fund is a trusted statewide disaster recovery fund that provides Texas communities with resources needed to be resilient in the face of disaster. From hurricanes and wildfires to public health emergencies, the Rebuild Texas Fund supports locally led recovery efforts through strategic investments in housing, health, education, and more.
As the state-appointed organization for administering private donations following a disaster, OneStar works with partners to distribute funding to eligible organizations working on the ground in rebuilding and recovery efforts. Every dollar raised goes directly to nonprofits, local governments, and community-based partners working on the front lines of recovery. Whether the disaster is large or small, we’re here to help Texans come back stronger—together.
Texas experiences more declared disasters than any other state in the nation—and every event brings valuable lessons in how communities can better prepare, respond, and recover. OneStar equips nonprofits, faith-based and community organizations, and government partners with the tools and expertise to strengthen their disaster readiness and resilience. Drawing on years of experience supporting Texas communities through crisis, our team provides practical guidance on topics such as:
