National Days of Service

National days of service are an opportunity to come together and engage all Texans in meaningful volunteer activities.

MLK Day of Service

“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve”

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy with a day of service. Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

9/11 Day of Service

Let's never forget what we're capable of doing together.

9/11 Day is the federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, observed each year on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Born from the remarkable spirit of unity, compassion, and service that emerged in the days following the tragedy, 9/11 Day aims to transform a day of tragedy into a day of doing good. The 9/11 Day observance encourages people to perform acts of kindness and service in tribute to those who were lost, injured, or made ill by from the attacks, as well as the first responders, recovery workers, and countless others who rose to help.

Good Neighbor Day America

Good things happen when we show up for each other.

Good Neighbor Day America is a nationwide movement to inspire the Good Neighbor in every American through love, kindness and service.  On this day, neighbors across the country will come together to serve their local communities — all at the same time. Each event meets a real, practical need right where we live, and together we create a shared national moment of impact.
