AmeriCorps Texas | New AmeriCorps Staff Orientation

New AmerCorps Staff Orientation is a multi-day training for staff at OneStar grantee organizations who are new to their position or new to working with your AmeriCorps program. The purpose of this training is to equip participants with knowledge and best practices to run a successful, compliant, and healthy AmeriCorps program for members and staff. 

New AmerCorps Staff Orientation is offered by OneStar three times a year. Attendance is mandatory for any Primary Fiscal and Primary Program staff members at an AmeriCorps Texas program within the first year of being assigned as a Primary contact.

  • Compliance and Processes
  • National Service Criminal History Check Bootcamp
  • Program and Fiscal Breakouts
  • Diversity and Inclusion

The deadline to register is Friday, November 8, 2024. Once registration closes (or when we reach our maximum capacity), we will confirm your attendance. Additional information about the New AmeriCorps Staff Orientation will be made available to confirmed attendees at that time.

Capacity

Each current AmeriCorps Texas program may register up to two staff members who play a significant role in your AmeriCorps program. If an organization has more than two new staff members, you may register the additional members, but please note that OneStar will first allow staff from other organizations to attend before subsequent members from your organization are confirmed to attend, space permitting. Priority registration will go to Primary Fiscal and Primary Program staff from programs in the AmeriCorps Texas portfolio.

Attendees will be responsible for sharing information and applying knowledge and updates received during the orientation with relevant staff at your organization.

Venue

New AmeriCorps Staff Orientation will be held online on the Zoom platform. Login instructions will be provided to participants following the close of registration.

Getting There

For navigation purposes, please enter the building address at 2901 Read Granberry Trail, Austin, TX 78758 into your GPS device.

All attendees will have access to free on-site parking at the Commons Conference Center for the duration of the New AmeriCorps Staff Orientation. Registrants will receive a parking permit via email prior to the event that also contains parking instructions and maps. Print the permit and display it on your vehicle’s dashboard. If you do not receive a permit prior to your arrival, enter the conference center and request a permit at the registration table. ADA accessible spaces are located in all parking lots.

The Austin MetroRapid bus stop is located on Exploration Way on the west side of the Commons Building and offers transit daily along a 15-mile route through Austin. For more information, please visit capmetro.org/route803.

Fiscal staff are required to attend only the first day of training (Thursday, July 11) but are welcome to attend both days.
