Hear how the Nonprofit Career Development Certificate helped accelerate the careers of past AmeriCorps participants.
The program has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the industry, including different roles, organizational structures, and strategic approaches. Through coursework and practical experiences, I have gained valuable insights and knowledge, allowing me to make informed decisions about my career path within the nonprofit sector.
Although working at my AmeriCorps site gave me a strong foundation in how nonprofits function, this course allowed me to dive into nonprofit management from a much more high-level and interdisciplinary perspective, furthering my understanding of theories and frameworks I was previously unfamiliar with while equipping me to approach challenges the way nonprofit leaders and board members might.
Through the course, I developed strong soft skills such as effective communication, leadership, and adaptability, which have helped me thrive in the workplace. Additionally, I gained valuable hard skills in fundraising, program evaluation, and nonprofit management, equipping me with the knowledge and abilities needed to perform my duties effectively and expose blind spots in my current work at my nonprofit.
