Strengthening the management and governance infrastructure of Texas nonprofits
With OneStar Foundation as its backbone organization, the Nonprofit Management Alliance of Texas (NMAT) is an alliance of regional nonprofit infrastructure organizations working together to foster the best nonprofit sector in the country by ensuring all nonprofits in the state have access to high quality affordable management and governance strengthening services.
NMAT is currently undergoing strategic planning to determine where and how to work over the next three to five years. Until planning is complete, NMAT is pausing member benefits and will not be accepting new applications.
Nonprofit Management Alliance of Texas was formed in response to a multi-year study by The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, which revealed the need for more formal networks and alliances to increase coordination and communication across the nonprofit sector. In 2010, OneStar formed an advisory group with representation from foundations, university research departments, nonprofit resource centers and other experts from the nonprofit sector to guide the formation of NMAT.
