Breakthrough proposes to have 272 quarter-time, summer AmeriCorps members who will teach courses in summer programs in Texas cities (Austin, Del Valle, Manor, and Houston) and 21 full-time, year-round AmeriCorps members who will deliver advising services and lead summer and year-round academic programming for Breakthrough students in grades 6-12 in Austin, Del Valle, and Manor, Texas, and Breakthrough high school graduates and college students attending colleges and universities throughout the United States. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for helping Breakthrough increase the number of students who meet academic milestones and enroll in college. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 400 volunteers, who will be engaged in tutoring, mentoring, and supporting Breakthrough students yearround. This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Education. The CNCS investment of $1,438,927. will be matched with Other Revenue to support the AmeriCorps program that will include $787,586 in private funding.
