City Year San Antonio will have 71 AmeriCorps members who will provide academic support and mentoring to students in 6 public schools in San Antonio, Texas. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for providing social-emotional mentoring to 616 students and academic mentoring in literacy to 236 students, of which 83 will improve reading skills, and, in math to 220 students, of which 77 will improve math skills. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 135 volunteers, who will be engaged in member development activities and events and physical service projects that benefit our school communities.
