Communities In Schools of North Texas

About the Program

Communities In Schools of North Texas proposes to have 79 AmeriCorps members who will provide research-based Integrated Student Supports to students who are at-risk of dropping out of school in 53 high-need Texas public schools in Bridgeport, Denton, Gainesville, Lake Dallas, Lewisville, Little Elm, and Northwest ISDs. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps Members will serve 600 students of which 450 will demonstrate improvement in academic engagement or social and emotional skills through increased attachment to school. In addition, the AmeriCorps Members will leverage at least 150 volunteers who will be engaged in social, emotional, and academic support of students at-risk of dropping out of school. This program will focus on the CNCS focus area(s) of Education. The CNCS investment of $434,352 will leverage $130,306 in public, in-kind support.
