Equal Heart will have 287 AmeriCorps members who will provide a multitude of services; including job readiness services, student engagement, environmental treatment, hunger reduction, connections to service opportunities, and other services that meet local needs in rural, distressed and other under-resourced communities across Texas. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for: improving job readiness for 400 adults, improving school engagement attitudes for 600 K-12 students, treating 200 acres of public land, increasing food supplies for 10,000 individuals, increasing connection to community and reducing isolation for 200 veterans, and providing other services for an additional number of individuals to be determined locally. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage approximately 2,000 volunteers, who will be engaged in providing these services alongside the AmeriCorps members. The program will focus on the AmeriCorps Focus Areas of Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental Stewardship, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. The AmeriCorps investment of $1,369,725 will be matched with $822,477 in private funding.
