9/11 Day of Service

9/11 Day is the federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, observed each year on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Born from the remarkable spirit of unity, compassion, and service that emerged in the days following the tragedy, 9/11 Day aims to transform a day of tragedy into a day of doing good.

The 9/11 Day observance encourages people to perform acts of kindness and service in tribute to those who were lost, injured, or made ill by from the attacks, as well as the first responders, recovery workers, and countless others who rose to help.

Now the single largest annual day of service in the United States, 9/11 Day engages more than 30 million people each year. As a nonprofit, your organization can be part of this powerful movement—engage your community, elevate your mission, and inspire support through meaningful acts of service.

West Texas Rural Philanthropy Days 2026

Grant funding from private and public sources to local nonprofits can be instrumental to the health and well-being of rural communities. But to be successful at grant seeking, nonprofits need to build relationships with funders and understand the grants process, which are particular challenges when both funders and nonprofit education centers are so far away.

WTXRPD meets these challenges by bringing both funders and education to a rural region to:

  • Connect rural West Texas nonprofits with foundations and government agencies with similar interests.
  • Build relationships among funders, nonprofits, and public officials.
  • Educate funders about needs and services in rural West Texas.

The event is designed, organized, funded, and planned by community leaders from West Texas. It provides rural nonprofits with access to funding sources, opportunities for collaboration, and capacity-building services to more effectively meet the needs of rural West Texas communities.

Grantseekers, grantmakers, representatives of public agencies, and elected officials can explore new partnerships that lead to mutual understanding, successful grant proposals, and more financial resources for rural West Texas.

Sometimes it’s just a situation where you can’t make everyone happy, but sometimes you’re in an ethical dilemma – torn between two or more of the core values for leading and managing volunteers. How do you know if you’re in an ethical dilemma, and what should you do to ensure that you make the right decision? Join Faiza Venzant, CVA, Executive Director for the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration and Jennifer Bennett, CVA to learn about those core values and how to incorporate ethical decision making into your work. This highly interactive session will help you think through a real ethical dilemma faced by a leader of volunteers, and practice the steps needed to implement this practice in your own work.
