American YouthWorks proposes to have 30 AmeriCorps members who will complete conservation and disaster service projects in Texas. At the end of the program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for treating 200 or more acres of public land and improving 135 or more of the treated acres; treating 12 miles of trails/waterways and improving 10 miles or more of the treated trails/waterways; providing 700 individuals affected by disaster with CNCS-supported services. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 500 volunteers who will be engaged in conservation and disaster service projects. This program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Environmental Stewardship. The CNCS investment of $453,600 will be matched with $453,600 in public funding and $0 in private funding.
